Businesses should avoid becoming embroiled in political or social issues or risk driving off customers. Candace Owens recently asked the rhetorical question, "Will Corporations go Broke for Going Woke?" While I don't wish further economic collapse due to large companies failing -- Blue states already did enough to cripple the economy -- I do hope we Conservatives have a significant enough effect to force a change of behavior from CEOs and corporate boards.
A Fresh Set of Eyes

Everyone hates Americans, especially Americans. As in the suffragette song in Mary Poppins, Europeans and others may like certain Americans individually, but in general folks outside the US have made bashing America and Americans a national pastime while simultaneously benefiting from and taking for granted our unparalleled compassion and generosity. It is nearly axiomatic. So given that the world's favorite activity is to criticism America, it is even more poignant that recent observations by international people cast such a sharp light on the gangrene that is our government and culture.

"Professional" athletes often use their notoriety to promote their various causes. We pay these people to play a game for a living as entertainment, and there is nothing that qualifies a football or soccer player -- or actor for that matter -- to be an expert on voting laws, lies of systemic racism, or foreign policy, yet we the [brainwashed] sheeple, woke Marxists, the propaganda arm of the Democrat party, corporate boards, and CEOs allow and enable them to provide undeserved influence.
Georgia Voting Law and Corporate Boycotts, part 1: Biden Lies and MLB and Woke CEOs Pretend It is the Truth
Dr. John R. "Buck" Surdu 6/5/2021 5:01 AM
Recently many state legislatures have passed laws to tighten up their voting laws in response to perceived insecurities and opportunities for fraud. This has not been confined to red states. While all states who chose to reduce opportunities for shenanigans received pushback from the Democrats and their propaganda arm (laughably described as news media), Georgia seemed to be at the epicenter of Leftist demagoguery. Premier Biden and his handlers and apologists laid out a set of lies about the Georgia voting law that even Washington Pravda gave four Pinocchios. That didn’t stop Dictator Biden from repeating the lies over and over and over.

As Jose N. Harris said, "A Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the United States of America for an amount up to, and including, their life. Regardless of personal or political views, there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact."
Thoughts on Student Loans

Changes are needed to the structure of student loans, but loan forgiveness is not the answer. As with most government created problems, the solution to student loan woes is to excise the government from involvement in them.

When I retired from the Army, I decided to join the American Legion. I didn't do a lot of research to compare American Legion with other groups, like the VFW, but as my experience in Iraq was not as a front-line soldier, I have trouble lumping myself in the category of veterans of foreign wars. The American Legion supports a lot of Veterans' causes. One of the benefits of membership is the monthly magazine. The articles are generally extremely well written and informative. This month's magazine included an article, Thank You and Goodbye (American Legion, June 2021, pp. 18-28), that really got my blood boiling.
Politicization of the Military, pt 3

I write and submit my articles weeks in advance to make sure that when my day job gets crazy busy, I don't miss a submission deadline. I hadn't intended for the Politicization of the Military article to stretch to three parts, but so many new disappointments have arisen that there was material for a third installment.
Politicization of the Military, Part 2
Dr. John R. "Buck" Surdu 5/22/2021 5:18 AM
The military has become increasingly politicized in recent years, with general officers not merely CMD REJECTEDuting the political goals of civilian command, but willingly becoming endorsers of political policies that have nothing to do with mission readiness, mission CMD REJECTEDution, or the strategic political objectives of civilian leaders. There is no excuse for active-duty flag officers becoming political operatives. The focus on women’s hair styles and pregnancy uniforms, the weakness of the National Command Authority, and the politicization of the military has emboldened our adversaries.
Voting FOR and AGAINST

As the nation drifts (some would say races) toward fascism, totalitarianism, Marxism, wokeism, abandonment of the Bill of Rights, and racism disguised as "anti-racism," I found it interesting to review a document I sent to a bunch of people in October 2020.
Politicization of the Military, Part 1
Dr. John R. "Buck" Surdu 5/15/2021 5:10 AM
For many years, when the nation needed Flag Officers (i.e., admirals and generals) to stand up and be counted, by and large, they sat in a corner and knitted. An apolitical military is key to our republic, along with an unbiased fourth estate, educational system that is not merely a disguise for political brainwashing, and courts that work to limit the reach of government (you know, that Bill of Rights thing that folks in Washington like to ignore). For many years, but at an increasing pace since the reign of Emperor Obama, the military has become increasingly politicized. During an almost thirty-year career in the Army, I watched many (most?) flag officers (i.e., generals and admirals) transform from warrior leaders to sycophantic political hacks.

In the Republican commentary following Premier Biden's disgraceful address to Congress, Tim Scott made the true statement that America is not a racist country. This is empirically, provably, objectively true. Yet, the response from the supposedly tolerant and anti-racist Democrat propaganda arm (a.k.a., the lamestreet media) was a torrent of racial epithets directed against Tim Scott, including referring to him as an "oreo," black on the outside but white on the inside. "Tolerance" only means toeing the leftist, race baiting line, not really tolerating other people's opinions when they do not fit the approved narrative. Don Lemmon, who has called President Trump and his family vile and heinous things, then got on Communist News Network and said we shouldn't call names, but that Tim Scott should be held accountable for not supporting his own people.
The Free State of Florida
Dr. John R. "Buck" Surdu 5/8/2021 5:19 AM
Our republic, our democratic form of self-government, can only work if the four pillars of that democracy are solid. Those are an unbiased educational system that emphasizes how to think rather than what to think, an unbiased media that holds all in power equally accountable for their actions, an unbiased court system that enforces the Constitution and makes no attempt to legislate from the bench, and an apolitical military. Today all of those institutions have been corrupted and destroyed by the Left with the willing participation of we the sheeple. The Left builds nothing; they only destroy. With the loss of those four key institutions (education, media, courts, and military), the last line of defense against an increasingly overreaching, tyrannical, and fascist federal government rests with state governors.
The (Near) Inevitably of Civil War
Dr. John R. "Buck" Surdu 4/22/2021 12:43 PM
They hate us. Hate. They don’t just disagree with our positions. They HATE us. Democrats, Leftists, and Quisling Republicans hate us. Who do they hate? They hate the common American who works hard, pays taxes, and treasures our freedoms, institutions, history, culture, and Constitution. To those in power, we are the enemy.
